The Independent which is a large collection of independent blogs previously using LiveJournal are now using WordPress. Interestingly, they have chosen not to use the built in commenting system of WordPress but have substituted it with Disqus.
The blogs are built with a standard WordPress system, incorporating our Disqus comments. We are demonstrating that globally standard programs can free mainstream journalism from the complex bespoke set-ups of the past.
I really like the overall design and feel of the Independent website. It’s clean, easy to navigate and they have done a good job incorporating various social media bits into the design such as the Twitter widget in the right hand sidebar.
And I thought Disqus was just a fad.
I love the theme. Who says it’s gotta be complicated? grey, black and white, lightweight… As always, less is more..
