Screenshots Of bbPress.org Redesign

Screenshots Of bbPress.org Redesign

By Jeffro on July 29, 2009

Thanks to Josh Leuze who tipped me off to this, it looks like bbPress.org is finally going to receive an overhaul with a brand new site design. The new design sticks with the same basic color scheme but the overall site gives a refreshed look and feel. My corny joke regarding the design is that there is a bug on the header.

I’m glad to see bbPress.org finally getting a much needed facelift. The only gripe I have about the design is that the forum gravatars are huge. I think having them a bit smaller would be the way to go. Please take a look at screenshot 1 and screenshot 2 and let me know what you think of the redesign in the comments.

WPWeekly Lineup For July

WPWeekly Lineup For July

By Jeffro on July 15, 2009

Just wanted to let everyone know what to expect for the rest of this month regarding the WordPress Weekly podcast. This Friday is the rescheduled appearance of Sam Bauers, the lead developer of bbPress. I hope he can make it as we have quite a backlog of questions from the first go around to ask him. Here are the dates and scheduled appearances for the rest of the month.

  • Nikolay July 24th – GlotPress
  • Scott Reilly aka Coffee2Code July 31st – Plugin Development And Community

Nothing has been scheduled for the month of August but if there is someone you would like me to try and get on the show, give me some suggestions in the comments.

Sam Bauers Talking bbPress

Sam Bauers Talking bbPress

By Jeffro on June 12, 2009

I came across these videos last night through WPCult.com, a WordPress centric site written and maintained by Austin Passy. There are four videos from the WordCamp San Francisco Developers Day uploaded by Austin which contain Sam Bauers discussing the development of the bbPress forum software. The most interesting video to me was number four where Matt shares the idea of how the comment form on a WordPress blog could be replaced by a thread or a forum powered by bbPress. A very interesting idea indeed. Thanks to Austin for uploading these videos.

P.S. I’m working on getting Sam Bauers on WordPress Weekly before or just after the release of bbPress 1.0. As of right now, things look good to have Sam on the show Friday, June 19th but keep an eye out for the show reminder email from Talkshoe as that will contain the locked in date.

bbPress RC 1 Out The Door

bbPress RC 1 Out The Door

By Jeffro on May 14, 2009

bbpressSam Bauers announced on the bbPress developers blog that release candidate 1 has been pushed out the door. According to the post, progression towards 1.0 will increase with these release candidates. Despite this version being a release candidate, Sam does not recommend using this on a live website just yet. If you want to see what’s changed, he recommends performing a fresh install.

If you find any bugs in RC1, submit them to trac so Sam can take care of them ASAP.
