WP 2.5 Wins OpenSource App Of The Year

It seems a little out of date considering that most in the community consider version 2.5 somewhat of a flop and 2.7 a screaming success.

Nice to see Matt and the project receiving the recognition they deserve though.

WordPress 2.7.1 Beta Released

It would be nice if there was a way to do this permanently. I’m happy to run the betas on a live site, but I usually can’t be bothered as it requires updating so regularly. If I could it with the a permanent change to something I’d be happy to be a beta tester, but in the mean time I’ll probably just stick to testing it on my local install.

I pick mignight February 3rd for the official release.

Thanks for the tip about 2.7.1 foo. Will that work more than once though? Will I be able to automatically upgrade to 2.7.2 beta when/if it is released or will I need to alter that file every time?

Justin Tadlock Releases Hybrid News Theme

Lol, he forgot to add a Suckerfish script to the theme! Emailing him with a bug correction now.

The theme does look pretty slick though. Nice job Justin!

Andrew Rickmann Spotlight Special

Andrew is putting out some interesting blog posts. He has a great attitude to the community which great to see. Reminds me of a certain other WP blogger out there who recently launched his own WP specific site, except Andrew has more of a programming angle to his posts.

Sandbox/Plaintxt Goes Up For Sale

It’s looking likely that the Sandbox theme will be integrated into WP 2.8 anyway. So development of the theme can be handled with WordPress itself.

What WordPress Needs From Its New Community Leader

Nice post Andrew.

WP Tavern sure is looking like the new hotspot for WordPress users, both noobs and experts alike.

Change Those FeedSmith FeedBurner Settings

I don’t get it. Isn’t Feedburned part of Google? Why would you move something from Feedburner to Google? And if so, surely you would disable the plugin and setup a redirect anyway.

Or am I missing something here … kinda confused.

WordPress Needs To Revise Post Revisions

Perhaps adding the ability to control the number of revisions stored via the wp-config.php file would be a good compromise?

Adding it as a core feature in the admin panel seems a little overkill. But adding a simple line in the wp-config.php file which could be uncommented when necesary seems fairly reasonable to me. Controlling how often the revisions are stored is not as useful IMO as controlling the number of revisions but at least it offers some control to prevent the database size exploding.
