WordPress 3.0 Upgrade Woes Starting To Come In

No problems. Just one auto upgrade that didn’t work. Man was updating WP before that a pain :-)

WPWeekly Episode 99 – Recap Of WordCamp San Francisco

Jeff, I’m pursuing a life change at this moment trying to make a living from something that not a lot of people are fortunate enough to do it.

I wish you the best of luck in your future projects. I think your going to be okay. The WordCamp idea sounds great … I think this could be a great way for companies to get the word out and for you to have great experiences participating in the WordCamps.

Review Of The Limit Login Attempts Plugin

@Martin – agree! This should be fairly simple to implement and could add a lot to the overall security for everyone using WP.

WPWeekly Episode 98 – WordPress 3.0 And WordCamp San Francisco

What I don’t really get is the menu feature for WP 3.0. It seems like there almost nothing left of the original WooTheme code/UI and not working great in the first beta phase. Also I was wondering if you heard of the WP menubar Plugin. http://www.blogsweek.com/category/wordpress-menubar/

I used this before on several site and does all you need for navigation. Maybe you could try to get the developer of this Plugin on the show and have him talk about his thoughts for his Plugin and the upcoming menu feature in WordPress. From what I know he’s pretty responsive in the WordPress forums and pretty sure this would make for an interesting episode.

WPWeekly Episode 95 – Commercial Plugins

This mini series shapes up to something big! Those are great shows. Maybe you could plan something similar on another topic in the future. Think it’s a great format.

WPWeekly Episode 90 – Interview With Michael Koenig

@JLeuze – this seems to be a general consent within the WP Community … the default WP Comments handling isn’t too bad but the features IntenseDebate promises to add are tempting. Still a lot of people holding back on adding them … maybe Jeff is going to be the big switch ;-)

» Posted By Nicolas On March 9, 2010 @ 2:45 AM

I’m hesitant as well to switch my comments over to IntenseDebate. Guess I’ll be checking your review post and make a decision at this point. Great interview with lots of insights!

BuddyPress 1.2 Released

Time for me to take a better look at BP now that it supports single WP installs. Was already testing it on a local install and am happy to say it works great!

My Thoughts On WordPress Weekly

I actually never was around in the chat or called in for the show but would hate it to go away. I always listen to the show on my iPod and love it.

For me there are two main reasons why I didn’t make it to the chat so far. One is the time difference to Europe (I’m asleep) and two as a student Friday nights are working time ;-)

Love the show Jeff and will be listening no matter what day you’ll have it on in the future!

WPWeekly Episode 85 – Core Plugins, Core Access, And WordCamp Atlanta

I love the Pods CMS Plugin. Think the merge will be great. Ever since I started to use the Pods UI Plugin aside I couldn’t image using Pods in any other way.

bbPress Now Has An Official Plugin

Is this going to be a full feature bbPress Plugin for a regular WP install or will it just pull information seemingly from a bbPress install on your server run separately?

WPWeekly Episode 84 – Interview With Page.ly

@Andrea_R – thanks for the info. This might end up being exactly what I will be using for a project that already runs on WP.

» Posted By Nicolas On January 18, 2010 @ 5:07 PM

Jeff, after listen to some parts of the show for a second time, I wanted to ask a question about BuddyPress. Is there still a project like the bbPress Plugin you mentioned on another post for BuddyPress. So that you could run it on a regular WP install? Or will this not be done as WP and WPmu are about to merge. And if the latter is true, will still every regular WP be able to run BuddyPress or only those who activate the WPmu features?

Great show. Really enjoyed to hear how they built their business on WP.

WPWeekly Episode 83 – The WordPressMU Gurus

What a great show. I’m really looking forward to the merge. We’re working on a project with WPmu and hopefully this will make things easier as we’re already running a WP powered site.

WPWeekly Episode 82 – The Tinfoil Hat Brigade

Enjoyed the show. I did hear about the privacy “problem” but as many others I guess didn’t know a lot about it. After listening to the show I think just as Otto I don’t really care … I’ll tell the world … just today I added Ian Steward’s new Kirby theme ;-)

WP.me Links Coming In WordPress 2.9

I think I really dig this new feature in 2.9 – way easier than each time going through anther web service or have yet another Firefox toolbar.

Good Luck Charles Stricklin

I missed the WordPress Podcast and Charles and it’s too bad he’s not doing it anymore. But I’m also glad that Joost is taking over. Press This is a great show and I think he’s the perfect person to take this Podcast over. Good luck to both of them!

Digging Into WordPress Is A Great Read

I definitely need to get my hand on a copy of this. To you have an affiliate link?

What Is The Weakest Link Of WordPress?

Agree, the website is the weak link of the WP Project. But I think they are very aware of that fact. Even Donnocha saw the importance of having a good documentation and started that for his WP Super Cache Plugin.

Of course this takes a lot of time and probably volunteer work of knowledgeable people but it should be done rather sooner than later. On the other hand, we have today so many excellent website with great WP content, WP Tavern or Dig WP, are just two of them where you can get almost everything you need to know (and the content being up to date).

Can A Theme Developer Put Himself Out Of Business?

Something like the Elastic Plugin is another step in this direction. Although you probably need to know a little bit more than with the theme you presented in your post.

Here’s the link to the Plugin:

And here’s the link to the presentation at WC NYC:

WPWeekly Episode 79 – Alex King And WPHelpCenter

I would love to have something like the WP Manage Plugins Plugin for all of the back-end. Would make it really easy to hide certain things from users that only want (need) to post posts or pages and be able to upload media files.

Roll Your Own Lifestream With WordPress

This is a really interesting read and I might go and do some changes on my blog. The way it works right now was heavily inspired by Matt’s old way of doing it. But this post might just gave me a couple new ideas for an upcoming redesign.

Listener Poll: Do You Think bbPress Will Evolve Into A WordPress Plugin?

I guess it would be nice to have it as a Plugin available. If WordPress mu is going to be the same as WordPress we might see BuddyPress and bbPress as Plugins and you get to build your social community site the easiest way out there.
