Displaying 1 To 5 Of 5 Comments Core Committer Peter Westwood Joins Automattic I was thought Westi was an Automattician! Either way, that’s awesome :) » Posted By Mo Jangda On August 25, 2010 @ 11:37 PM Widgets, Modules, Or Metaboxes? While I personally prefer metabox, it’s really more of a developer/internal term and not as descriptive to end-users. But then, it ultimately it doesn’t depend on what you call it, as long as there’s consistency and you educate your users well. Systems develop and adopt their own terminologies (e.g. we call them “plugins”, Joomla calls them “components”) and you use what works for your community :) » Posted By Mo Jangda On June 14, 2010 @ 12:29 PM You left out Matt Thomas! » Posted By Mo Jangda On April 8, 2010 @ 12:16 AM @Jake Goldman – I’ve always seen TimThumb as a terrible solution to a very real problem. The thinking behind it was good (provide an easy way to resize images on-the-fly) but the execution was terrible (let’s expose that resizing functionality on the front-end and potentially open up a huge security hole). Sad part is, most of the functionality that TimThumb provides, I was able to replicate in a recent plugin entirely using internal WP functions. » Posted By Mo Jangda On February 27, 2010 @ 1:48 AM In a lot of cases, I actually see the “Powered by *” link for themes as useful for site visitors. Similarly, I find it somewhat handy when site owners have a “Colophon”-like section that lists the plugins in use on the site (some might see this is a potential security threat, though). However, if plugins/themes do add any public-facing links, I think it’s essential for them to provide an option via the Admin to remove the link. Uncheck a checkbox and link is gone. Unfortunately, most themes have the link hardcoded and force you to edit the theme. » Posted By Mo Jangda On February 19, 2010 @ 3:58 PMComments Posted By Mo Jangda
