Most WCs are 1 day. Isn’t WCSF 3 days? I am always wondering what are the checks in the WC system so that WC organizers do not pocket the extra money. What if they say they will use the extra $4,000 (example amount) for next year’s WC but then later on new organizers come and take over for next year, what happens to that $4,000? I think there should be limits to non WCSF events, the other WordCamps. THEY ARE NOT AS BIG AS WCSF. No one is forcing you to stick with WC Central’s rules. You want to plan a WordCamp then follow the rules. You don’t need a million dollars for the average WordCamp. » Posted By Miroslav Glavic On May 4, 2012 @ 5:49 PM Details For WordCamp New York 2012 Emerge What happened in 2011? anyone know? » Posted By Miroslav Glavic On March 20, 2012 @ 2:33 PM WP Pro Business Giving Away $9,000 Worth Of WP Stuff “…You’ll have to decide before you enter on whether you want to go through the hassle and delete your email address from each sponsors list if you don’t win….” Thank God for having my own domain and unlimited @miroslavglavic.ca e-mail addresses. WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, and all other Open Source projects (not just CMS/blogging), correct? Wow he doesn’t use WordPress….oh my God let the apocalypse come down upon us. All roads lead to Rome. WordPress, Drupal, Joomla all do essentially most of the same things, just different ways. All three take 3 different roads to Rome. Certain elements in the WordPress/Drupal/Joomla communities need to take something long out of somewhere where the sun doesn’t shine. De-inflate the ego. There are things that WordPress is better than others, there are things Drupal/Joomla/etc…is better than others…and every other similar OPEN SOURCE software. Same thing can be said about PHPBB/SMF/XMB/etc….forums software. Obviously the WP.org/.com/swag store/wordcamp central should all be running WordPress. I have used WP/D/J. I use all three. The Open Source Community is made up of different sections that have things in common (hence OPEN SOURCE). Within those sections there is the CMS section. Let’s all get along, ok? He was promoting OPEN SOURCE, not WordPress specifically. People who bitch at events, they don’t have to attend those events. Obviously the only bitching allowed would be if a WordCamp organizer was using Drupal or Joomla. » Posted By Miroslav Glavic On January 23, 2012 @ 12:17 AM Information On WordCamp Phoenix 2012 Shouldn’t WordCamp Phoenix be IN PHOENIX? How far is Chandler from Phoenix? » Posted By Miroslav Glavic On January 19, 2012 @ 10:48 AM WPCandy Set To Publish First WP Centric Print Magazine $12 + S/H for a subscription? I am seriously Rolling on the floor LAUGHING. First of all why is it that when something shipped from US to Canada we are destroyed in S/H prices? most of them consider Canada as overseas? Canada Post charges $0.59 anywhere in Canada, $1.03 for USA $1.75 International. <— standard letter rates. $8 <— S/H per issue? are you bloody serious? (I am restraining my usual blunt self on this comment just so you know as I want to use extremely colorful language here). Canada and USA are essentially one country in many levels, we are each others's biggest trading partners. The most I ever paid for S/H per issue was $9. So essentially I am paying $20 per issue). I have about 20 magazine/newspaper subscriptions and none of them charge me $8 s/h and the fact that it is two weeks. I will not be getting a subscription. Yearly subscription S/H is $16, so a total of $52. Still no. S/H rate for yearly is the same as Russia, Qatar, Nigeria and Argentina. So S/H is USA, then everyone else. You can bla bla bla about my comments but I won't change my view. It costs a lot more to send things to Russia/Qatar/etc…than Canada. » Posted By Miroslav Glavic On November 25, 2011 @ 5:32 PM WordPress.com Blogs To Get More Advertising so are the ads going to run on whatever.wordpress.com or on sites that people host on wordpress.com hosting (with your own domain and thing). get the difference? » Posted By Miroslav Glavic On October 20, 2011 @ 9:51 PM Score Tickets To WordCamp Toronto 2011 I picked two winners already. By the way sorry if I type UK part, there is a London in Canada (3 hours from Toronto), thus my head goes into confussion. I would say that most WordPressers would be or near, London England. What about: WordCamp London I have been to London and Edinburgh but not to Cardiff and Belfast. Now Belfast might be too close to Dublin, according to Google Maps they are 2 hours driving away from each other. How close is too close for WordCamps to be to each other? For me WordCamps are a lot about locality (yes that is a word). 90% of speakers are local people right? I never liked WordCamp COUNTRY. UK IS pretty big, this coming from someone that lives in second biggest country on this planet (Canada). I know that for the end of time that WordCamp Toronto/San Francisco/New York will be in Toronto/San Francisco/New York. Technically speaking WordCamp UK can be in any city in the United Kingdom. I am sure London is not the only city in UK with a WP community. It could be the biggest. Why not grow a community in Edinburgh and Cardiff? I am just saying, when people think UK, most of them will think London. I much prefer Folkestone and would love to have return to Edinburgh. I am sure UK is more than just London. I tend to be sleeping at 3am, Matt coming and waking me up and doing it when it isn’t necessary. Automatic upgrading has two bad issues: 1) It can really screw up my install if things aren’t compatible with components of my site. 2) You think that those lazy admins will get any better? no, they will continue their lazy way and not upgrade. As a community we need to be up here to help them out. So many WordPress community members have a stick up their you know what. I remember when I was a newbie. I tried to get some help from a theme author, there was an issue with his theme. He spent 5 paragraphs YELLING AT ME. I changed themes. There are a lot of people who are afraid to upgrade. I had the issues with the first started the one click upgrade within WP. Think about it, do you remember ancient times ago when you were first customizing/upgrading? How many mistakes did you make with the WPT theme? some typos maybe? Not all admins who don’t upgrade do it out of laziness, they do it out of fear. » Posted By Miroslav Glavic On September 9, 2011 @ 11:25 PM As anyone who comments on here or other WordPress based sites knows that I am blunt and brutally honest. I DO NOT WANT AUTOMATIC UPGRADES. This feels like Matt Mullenweg wants to tell me when I can wipe my rear end. SORRY FOR THE GRAPHICAL EXPLANATION. Each of us have different plugins and themes. Many of them have different customization. Sometimes when you upgrade coreWP then it will conflict with your theme and/or plugins. I had instances where some plugins didn’t get along with WordPress Mobile Pack. One of the upgrades last year REALLY screwed up a client’s site when I updated. I had to add a maintenance plugin and turn it on. Client calls me and is yelling at me so loud I can hear him from the phone 3 rooms over. I would say 40% of sites I manage (own/clients) that I do not upgrade right away due to customizations. Again I am blunt and brutally honest. » Posted By Miroslav Glavic On September 9, 2011 @ 1:02 AM See If You’re Secure With The Timthumb Vulnerability Scanner Sweet no vulnerabilities found. » Posted By Miroslav Glavic On September 5, 2011 @ 3:14 PM What’s The Best Way To Be Notified Of Theme And Plugin Updates? I want a plugin to notify me via e-mail (that e-mail address goes to my Blackberry) when there is an update. [short code] was added to the page and voila, but it added that link. Athaualpa which I so love……you can remove the extra link by going to the functions file. I have this policy: IT IS MY SITE AND I WILL DECIDE WHO I LINK TO. I had a link (57 x 57) for WPtavern, and since we know Jeff does not have a 57 x 57 badge (that’s what the theme had), I spent some of my time and created the 57 x 57 badge and linked to here. See the difference? I CHOSE to do it, and did a bit more. I don’t use the “57 x 57″ theme any more. The theme is GreatIdeas, while typing this response I looked at it. Holy crap I have 25 themes, I got to delete 24 of those. Anyways, Athaualpa adds 3 links. Most themes I have seen add 2. Powered by WordPress In a way I agree with that, in a way I do not. Plugins just for a sec – I have this view: It is none of your business what plugins I use. There was a forum post about someone going on about WP not needing to know the URL. Isn’t this similar but for the whole world? I had a plugin that after an update (which I used for a year or two), started to add a link. I tend to download my podcasts and put them on my mp3 player/digital voice recorder and listen to them on my way to work (I take transit). I have a hard line approach to things (like that guy who got his plugins removed because they had to be activated via e-mail which then got bombarded with daily marketing e-mails, If you had him as a guest, I would call the show and call him an idiot for that). I also don’t like my own voice. There is a plugins podcast, Lorelle was on it, was she on your podcast? Anyways, I don’t think the plugins podcast is live. 79% of WPW I listen after the fact because of my schedule (and I am in Eastern Time Zone). Nothing personal but WPW vs. getting paid in my job and not getting fired…guess which one I would pick? I will come back when I have free time and download it and listen to the episode on my home-work or work-home streetcar then subway then bus ride home. If you keep moving things around then that 79% will go to 99% or 100% that I won’t be there live. p.s. I want my wptavern t-shirt, I have mentioned this a few times, here is one more :) » Posted By Miroslav Glavic On February 3, 2010 @ 1:05 PMComments Posted By Miroslav Glavic
That price is a weeeeeee bit high, specially + $8 S/H for Canada?
Technically speaking USA is Internationl (from our point of view) but most shipping companies (including Canada Post) keep USA outside the "International" category. Yet on the way back we don't get the same respect.

I was in Edinburgh 15-20 years ago so I think it is bigger/different now.

Sometimes it is not necessary to wipe my rear end.
Sometimes when you upgrade a theme/plugin……….you get it right?
I use Google Reader now.
I have access to Google anywhere in the world, maybe not in China.
I have 118 subscriptions.
Some of them are only sending posts once a month or two.
I got 89 feeds this morning.
I look at the sender then the subject/title, if it’s not interested then it goes to the MARK READ pile (without me reading it).
Step two: If things don’t happen then you e-mail the webhost and if it’s different the domain registrar. If the website has google adsense or other advertising networks/affiliates, then CC those networks and the owner
Step three: e-mail owner a third time
