Wanna WordPress Wiki

@Ryan – Thank you for writing it. Perhaps it’s just me, but can you see the Codex moving off of media wiki to perhaps a custom WordPress install which is more oriented towards being a codex. It already has post revisions built in.

The Peeps Of WordPress

@JD Hartley -You’ve got that right. Still not happy about me having a secret crush on Kym, not true, not true, not true.

Contact Form 7 Now Safe To Use

@Takayuki Miyoshi – No problem. I enjoy using this plugin quite a bit so I thought it was worthy to give you some cash as a token of gratitude as well as a thanks for fixing it so quickly.

BuddyPress Themes Are Future Proof

@Kym Huynh – Thanks for the nod of approval. Still have not installed it yet but it’s high up on my to do list.

WordCamp Central Redesigned

@Stefan Vervoort – Awesome, WordCamps are great events, nothing like chatting it up face to face in real time. I think you’ll find that you get more done talking WordPress face to face in one hour than in dealing with twitter, forums, comments, etc.

WPWeekly Episode 51 – TalkPress And More

@Brian Meagher – Are you sure that was this episode or are you referring to episode 52 where I interviewed him?

Plugin Style Settings – Database Or CSS?

@Carl Hancock – I like your approach. With regards to too many static CSS files, I agree which is why I tend to lean towards the styling being saved in the database with the plugin options table rather than purely styled from a CSS file.

All in all, seems like your hybrid approach would probably work out best, catering to normal and power users.

First Look At New Widget Interface

@Jane Wells – That actually makes a lot of sense and I’m thankful that I now have a place to put my configured Text widgets where they won’t lose their settings versus the way they work now. Thanks for the clarification Jane.

» Posted By Jeffro On April 20, 2009 @ 3:39 PM

@Kel – Yep, the saving part is definitely something i noticed as well. And, each sidebar that you have in your theme shows up on the right hand side allowing you to see which widgets are applied to which sidebar. So in a way, it’s sort of what you were asking for.

Use WordPress As A CMS

@Miroslav Glavic – That’s weird, the link works just fine for me. Should be http://www.bloggingtips.com/2009/04/12/set-up-wordpress-as-a-cms/ maybe that works?

The WordPress Rap

@Ozh – Good idea, I’ll ping Kim to see if he is willing to post the lyrics or give me permission to publish them.

@BoltClock – Yes, it does. Flies like supafly!

» Posted By Jeffro On April 13, 2009 @ 3:54 AM

@Kym Huynh – LOL why is that? I see you found a link to this post via WPCandy heh. What did you think I was going to do with that file? Keep it for myself?

WPWeekly Episode 50 – Interview With Cathy Perkins

@JLeuze – Thanks Man, feels good to reach 50 but it will feel even better to hit 100. Lorelle is a WordPress.com blogger so maybe I’ll get her on to explain more about the differences between .com and .org

@Patrick D. – Nice to have you part of the live show for once. The aftershow was everything but normal but that is what happens during every aftershow.

@Vin – The SEO plugin she mentioned was called HeadSpace 2 SEO I’ll have to give the podcast a listen again to get the other plugins she mentioned.

WPSeek – An Awesome Research Tool

@Oliver Schlöbe – You’re welcome. As you can see, I use both resources for my needs and as far as I’m concerned, the more the merrier.

» Posted By Jeffro On April 12, 2009 @ 2:21 AM

@Andy Stratton – I remember seeing the conversation on the hackers mailing list regarding wplookup and I think your service along with something else, can’t remember the name was also discussed in that topic. In fact, they were talking more about the other service than yours. But, I do have WPLookup added as a search engine in my FireFox :)

Advertising Now An Option On WPTavern

@Ryan – I’ve since corrected the link, I suppose that is not going to help keep the lights on if I can’t even link people to the page.

@Conorp – Thanks for having my back Conorp :)

Introducing The Tavern Tip Jar

@JLeuze – I’m keeping my eyes out for a personalized beer mug that I can resell. If I find one, that would be awesome.

» Posted By Jeffro On April 12, 2009 @ 2:51 AM

@JLeuze – LOL Thanks for your donation, I really appreciate it. A number of people have already taken advantage of the Tip Jar and I can say that it’s definitely not empty as it once was.

Ohio WordPress Meetup April 23rd

@Angelo Mandato – Would be cool to see you if you can make it. I need to get my butt in gear and get this event on upcoming.org

» Posted By Jeffro On April 12, 2009 @ 2:22 AM

@Brad – Thanks Brad, I’m sure it will be a blast. I am looking into possibly Ustreaming the event if people are ok with that. Would be cool to blast the meetup to the Tavern site.

» Posted By Jeffro On April 11, 2009 @ 6:31 AM

@Kim – Yeah, going to do that today after I confirm with Brian about placing it on Upcoming. I’m pretty sure the first meeting will simply be a meet and greet event with discussions on what to talk about in future meetings, discuss WordCamp Columbus and other stuff. This is one of those events where I’ll probably get butterflies as the day gets closer LOL

» Posted By Jeffro On April 9, 2009 @ 9:50 AM

@Kim – Well, I don’t think we have the event on Upcoming.org so I’m not sure who all is coming but Brian and I are guaranteed to be there which should make the event worth it all by itself! LOL. I’d say from Newcomerstown, Akron is probably an hour drive eh?

Another Company Goes 100% GPL

@David Coveney – Hey David, the way I looked at it is that your themes were taking off the repository due to not complying with the license but now, your themes will certainly comply with the GPL at least in the way the repository wants you to. But I don;t want to go down that argument road again :P

I’m glad to see you merge your business with the overall view of the community. As far as riches go, I imagine if having the themes for free and making income off of the services or support model does not work, maybe you’ll be forced to charge for the GPL material? You would still be in line with the license even if you charged for the theme, just as long as no restrictions were on it.

Plugins And Commercial WordPress Sites

@Peter – I agree, encrypting the plugin is definitely the wrong way to go but an extreme measure to protect the code from being modified or redistributed.

@Paul – Sounds like the model everyone comes up with when discussing how plugin authors can make a living. Perhaps there is no other way.

@Ryan – Yeah, I could see something like that happening. The part about people getting greedy :)

Configuring Contact Form 7

@Web Design Ventura – You may want to check out my review of GravityForms before you start coding your own custom solution.

http://www.wptavern.com/review-of-gravityforms-could-creating-forms-be-any-more-kick-ass

» Posted By Jeffro On October 12, 2010 @ 7:55 PM

@Julio – Hmm, well if your form is asking for the end users email address, it should definitely be part of the email that is sent to your inbox. When you view the email message that is sent to you via the contact form, what does it say in terms of the “Sent by” address?

» Posted By Jeffro On April 12, 2009 @ 2:55 AM

@Kel – Yeah, that is true. I didn’t mention this in the post but surprisingly, I’ve had very little spam arrive in my inbox through my sites contact form. Maybe the simple captcha configuration I use is enough :)

Comparisons Between Most Popular Theme Frameworks

@gelay Jamtsho – Sounds like there is a decent sized club of people who have had the same experience with Thematic.

@Dian – Thanks. Dan gets the credit and I hope to see a future update from him as well.

@knight – Yes, it’s in the documentation but the documentation can not be viewed unless you purchase a membership to the club.

» Posted By Jeffro On April 12, 2009 @ 2:29 AM

@Ian Stewart – I’d say based on the feedback the post has received already, Dan will most likely create a second roundup. But, we’ll see. Thanks for the Stumbles :)
