Displaying 31 To 60 Of 88 Comments @Small Potato -BP themeing has changed significantly with 1.1, and there is supposed to be more improvements with 1.2. might wanna give it another whirl. :) » Posted By Andrea_R On December 3, 2009 @ 12:53 PM There is a theme repo over at buddypress.org, which catches all themes tagged with “buddypress”. Seems to be misfiring lately though, and doesn’t catch any themes out in the general wild. » Posted By Andrea_R On November 30, 2009 @ 5:14 PM Should WordPress Change The Blog Nomenclature Within The Backend? I voted yes becasue it was closer to the option of “make it pluggable”. Then, those who want it changed can do so via plugin. :) because if you change, then what term to use? Site? With MU at the very least the word has different connotations. » Posted By Andrea_R On November 3, 2009 @ 7:16 PM Oh Jeff, this is awesome. Thank you so much, it will be so helpful for a LOT of people. » Posted By Andrea_R On October 14, 2009 @ 7:13 PM My Bid For Advanced Exporter Into Core I expect with the concentration on features going into 2.9, and then the freeze, it will be put on hold until the 2.9 beta is out the door. » Posted By Andrea_R On October 13, 2009 @ 5:59 PM Interview With The Fragtastic Ozh Heartily enjoyable. :) You guys are funny. » Posted By Andrea_R On October 13, 2009 @ 12:40 PM Interview With Jason DeVelvis – Winner Of 2008 Plugin Competition Great interview! I can’t wait to see WPMU/buddypress plugin Jason has in the works. :) » Posted By Andrea_R On October 12, 2009 @ 5:02 PM Nomad-One Interviews Six Great Theme Developers You bringing in the good people, the heavy thinkers, and keeping us all in line and on topic. ;) » Posted By Andrea_R On October 6, 2009 @ 3:09 PM We’re already seeing it in the MU world, since there’s a host or two offering one-click install for people who then have no idea how to run it, let alone tinker with it. And then toss in the merge, and the noob audience will get bigger. But, I think this will give a lot of people the opportunity to shine. More emphasis on learning (for those who want to learn) and paid help (for those who really need it) rather than trumpeting “Look at all the free stuff!” Even the free code, when you know how to use it, still costs in time. Nobody points that out. If there can be a concerted effort to emphasize learning on your own, helping those who need it (either for pay and in giving back to the community) that will helps us all. » Posted By Andrea_R On October 21, 2009 @ 9:42 AM Is A Plugin Validation Team A Pipe Dream? I’d say this would be on the Important but not Urgent list. They’d definitely have to pay someone to keep up with it though. Possibly going back to the older, less popular plugins and do them first. Maybe even cut off access temporarily. That way they can clean up plugins not in active use to disturb the least amount of people at a time. Ron & I were just discussing about maybe even better idea is to have approved plugin frameworks for plugin devs to learn from properly the first time around. many of us got our feet wet by example code. If you start from a bad or unsecure example, you’ll just write more. » Posted By Andrea_R On September 30, 2009 @ 2:22 PM Donnacha gets ten thousand Internet points, at LEAST. » Posted By Andrea_R On September 26, 2009 @ 1:09 PM First Signs Of WordPress Using BuddyPress With Project Wide Profiles @Jeffro – Oh, it’s a looooong way… :D » Posted By Andrea_R On September 4, 2009 @ 9:01 AM Dang, I was all excited to leave my comment to say I’m the usual andrea_r and Ron beat me to it. :D Oooooo, it counts WPMU forum stuff TOO! And it caught my first ever post back in 2005. Wow. » Posted By Andrea_R On September 3, 2009 @ 9:11 PM Vote For WordCamp New York Logo I voted for the exact same one you did. » Posted By Andrea_R On September 3, 2009 @ 11:53 AM Where do you see BuddyPress this time next year? :) » Posted By Andrea_R On September 1, 2009 @ 2:01 PM WordCamp Hitting The Big Apple @Jeffro – We’re *really* excited to both be going. :D Although you’ll all find out who is the real brains behind this outfit. ;) » Posted By Andrea_R On September 2, 2009 @ 4:03 PM @Miroslav Glavic – Not sure I can fit it on the plane. :D » Posted By Andrea_R On September 2, 2009 @ 4:02 PM And it looks like we’ll be there. :D » Posted By Andrea_R On August 31, 2009 @ 8:54 AM Have You Enjoyed Your Stay At The Tavern So Far? (I have one specifically in mind. Not gonna call it premium. :D The coding was terrible.) » Posted By Andrea_R On August 10, 2009 @ 4:31 PM “What I Saw And What I Have Are Different” is especially true and hugely confusing for newbies too. I’ve talked to too many people who bought a theme and have trouble understanding they need to visits the theme’s options page and set things up. Or even do things like put an image in their post so an image will show up with a post thumbnail. :D » Posted By Andrea_R On August 10, 2009 @ 4:16 PM Top 5 WordPress Security Tips You Most Likely Don’t Follow @Phil – if it’s up above the web root, then nobody should be able to get to it. If they can, then the box itself is compromised, not your install. William forgot one more n00b tip: don;t use the same password for everything. I’ve seen an install that had the same password for ftp, the admin account AND the database user. Might as well hand someone the keys. » Posted By Andrea_R On August 10, 2009 @ 4:34 PM Review Of Advanced Exporter For WP/WPMU Another use is if you have a lot of categories and decide to remove one (say, some business talk from your personal blog) and start a blog on just that topic. Some people also have issues with very large sized export files. Either the server won’t form them, or import a larger file, and this is a good way to chunk a large site export into smaller files for import without tearing your hair out over php.ini settings or manually dividing up the file. » Posted By Andrea_R On August 6, 2009 @ 3:56 PM We’re glad you liked it. :) » Posted By Andrea_R On August 5, 2009 @ 8:33 AM Approve, Delete, Spam – How Do You Treat Specific Comments? Maybe the dot com can do a little more PR work in letting their users know it’s taken care of. :) » Posted By Andrea_R On July 27, 2009 @ 9:29 AM I mostly have ads blocked from the big servies like google, adbrite etc… I hadn;t blocked your sidebar ads or the banner up top. » Posted By Andrea_R On July 3, 2009 @ 4:40 PM It looks like someone planned this using the Virtual Conference format popular in other circles and is just trying to profit off the WordCamp name, really. registrations should definitely not be open this early. » Posted By Andrea_R On June 25, 2009 @ 8:28 AM Could BuddyPress Be The Poster Child Of WordPress? *scratches head* Isn’t that what was said in hte WCSF talk that Lorelle got a little confused over? They announced the merge, then some other stuff, and then that wp.org was going to run WPMU (and presumably BP) » Posted By Andrea_R On June 22, 2009 @ 8:33 AMComments Posted By Andrea_R
