WPShout Releases Results Of Their Webhosting Survey

Cheers Jeff. Whilst I did take a while to put the results together, it was earlier *this* year and not 2010 that I got the results in :)

Write For People, Not For Spiders

I don’t dismiss everything around SEO as junk, I just think it’s better for everyone, including Google if humans come first before spiders. This site has a page rank of 5, an Alexa Ranking below 30,000 and has a devoted fan base all accomplished without any SEO trickery.

Kinda my point; Google isn’t the one who’s reading your blog, actual people are. I’d much prefer to have a dedicated readership than a high Google ranking where people will visit once and never come back. If you’re blogging for Google you’ve got the wrong end of the stick.

How Do I Contribute To Commercial GPL Themes?

The majority of users probably won’t do anything much, but with the GPL I can see a lot more people using a theme as a ‘basis’ for other designs. The question is – will these people send their new design back to the original designer or just release it on their site, taking all the credit? Only time will tell.
