Default WP 3.0 multisite mode and ms-plugins

To improve our multilingual plugins trilogy (based on xili-language) for realtime multilingual sites in WP multisite mode, I discover this Tavern. Congratulations.
With WP 3.0, it is very easily possible to activate multisite mode and to verify that xili plugins work (they work). For future, to add specific new features, I try to find "transversal" plugins (uploaded in ms-plugins folder) working on the series of (multi)sites... and curiously these plugins are not free as other WP plugins. Most sites need "fees" to test these plugins !
Is the wordpress policy different for multisite mode ? Must I limit free use of my plugins series to monosite mode ?
Please has somebody infos about this subject ?

    Best regards
    Michel of dev.xiligroup.com

Welcome to the forum. The WordPress community generally prefers plugins to be GPL licensed, beyond that you can do whatever you want including selling them or releasing them for free. The official WordPress project will not support anything which is not GPL and rarely promote anything which isn't free.

No, it isn't official policy. There are no official WordPress sites that sell plugins. And there are still plenty of multi-site plugins out there that are FREE.

Look for wpmu plugins in the WordPress plugin repository.

    Default Example

This site can introduce misunderstanding in wpmu policy:

It was why I question you.

Like I said, that site is not an official WordPress site. They are not owned by nor affiliated with Automattic.

Edit: and that particular plugin you've linked to is actually FREE, yet they've shuffled the download link of to the side to make it less obvious. See the orange box in the sidebar.

Hi Andrea, perhaps because here it is night, - very shuffled - but I don't find the free download link. In this site, they do a synonym of words download and join (with credit cards naturally !).. :-(
Hi Ipstenu, in the official WP plugin, you can find the results of my jobs since more than two years : http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/xili-language/ etc...
    Best regards

Oh wait, my mistake - THAT one isn't free. (I'd been looking at another one on their site at the same time). Whups, sorry.

If you want something that gathers up all the posts across the site, and is FREE, use this one:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/...sitewide-tags/

Yes, it says tags. It will pull all the posts, *including* the tags, categories, author name, and will keep the original permalink.
