Assign genre to categories

I want to be able to assign a genre to categories like this site http://www.animelime.com/?genre=all you see when you click on any genre it will list all the categories that contain that genre. How can I do this?

Well, two options come to mind:

1) Simply rename your category base as "genre" in your settings.

That will display your category URLs as such: mysite.com/genre/<em>category-name</em>

2) If you need more complex sorting/hierarchy ability, you can use custom taxonomies and/or custom post types.
