*holds up her 'I whet my teeth on security' sign* Otto's correct.

It's far more likely your ID and password will get scooped by insecure methods of accessing your SERVER (FTP, SSH, etc) than by scraping authors off the content of your blog.

The mostly likely reason it might be a vector is if you really pissed off someone and they decided to brute-force attack your site. So, y'know, don't be a di**.

My primary concern was not security. My issue was that I didn't want readers to see my user name because it was a goofball word that didn't look professional, in my estimation, and would be changed from time to time.

Just as a good padlock only keeps out an honest man, so too most security measures. Having a visible user name, as far as I'm concerned, just shows everyone where the padlock is. If having a visible user name is inconsequential to security, so be it. But my primary goal has been met.

You know you can change that in the template right?

And in the settings? "display name as" - it's on your profile page.

The profile settings were the first thing I looked at and failure to change it caused me to write the forum to find out why. As far as looking in the template files, that was my second exploration, but I wouldn't know where to look.
