Default Are You A Theme Hopper?

When I first started using WP, I knew squat about selecting a theme and knew even less about modifying it! As a result, I went from one theme to the next. It was almost like shopping for clothes. Find something cool, try it on, hang it up. Find something else, try it on, hang it up.

I was a theme hopper and looking for that comfy theme that I wanted to "wear" every day. It took me a while but I finally found my theme. I've used it for a while now. I know where all the patches are. I know where I've had to let the seams out and where I had to take them in. Needless to say, it's become a very comfy theme and fits me perfectly.

Are/were you a theme hopper? Tell us about your search and if you found the theme that fits you to a T.

Well i kinda was a theme swapper. I used to edit various themes and try to take it what it all meant.
The lord of every land, rising for them,
The Aton of the day, great of majesty.

    Great Hymn of the Aton

Never have been. I find a design I like and don't change it very often. Look at the gaps in design releases for my company (please don't laugh :P ):

and my blog has really never changed completely, only modified over time.

EDIT: So I can't just post a link without the URLs page title displaying instead...

EDIT EDIT: Jeffro rocks and fixed it. thanks!

Yes, I can admit to being a theme hopper. Pretty much exactly how you described. The problem I have though is I like to hack and slash themes to the point where the code is a mess and it has a unique look. Heh, I throw Validation out the window just as long as it works and looks the way I want it to. I think I've been through at least 4-5 themes for my personal blog alone.

I've only ever had one theme for my blog which I wrote myself. It's gone through many iterations and now looks a bit different than when I first started using it but despite the changes, I still consider it to be the same theme.
The fact that I usually like to create the themes I use has led to a lot less theme hopping for me than if I didn't, though I have installed a few themes from extend on development instances of WordPress to test them out.

Speaking of theme hopping, does anyone enjoy visiting the WayBackMachine and checking out your old blog designs in action or other old designs on peoples websites?

I would guess (and it's only a guess) that most people are theme hoppers. I'm not sure if you ever really find THAT theme for when you think you have, and have customized the heck out of it, along comes another that makes you say ... hmmm, I like that, I could do wonders with it. :D

That only works for your own blog if it's popular enough :)

I've checked out other sites though. It's a pretty neat tool.

Haha. I did that yesterday. They stopped crawling my site back in Feb 2008 due to a robots.txt rule I inadvertently inserted. Have since fixed that.

    Oooh! A kindred spirit.

As far as the WayBackMachine, I have gone back to it a couple of times for various things. Years ago, it saved my behind! I had a major site crash and they were the only ones that had a copy of the info I needed!

    WayBack is my friend. ;)
