Default Duster The Twenty Eleven Theme?

So it looks like the Duster theme but Automattic may be the next default theme in WordPress.

    Looking at the Duster screenshot:

I hope they change the way the Featured post looks. The image and the continue reading both look out of place to me as if there is something wrong with the alignment code. Other than that, the theme seems ok for a default one. I hope they at least add some post format support to it.

Interesting comment by Dan Milward saying he's aware of Matt and co. working on a theme framework ... http://wpcandy.com/reports/duster-ma...#comment-85529. That's the first I've heard of such a thing, although I suspected that was going to happen when Automattic purchased ThemeShaper.com.

Perhaps they're rebuilding Thematic from the ground-up? That would explain the complete lack of development on Thematic of late as they'd be busy re-engineering it as some sort of official WordPress theme framework.

I'm meeting up with Dan on Monday night so will ask him about it then if no more news pops up beforehand.

Dan didn't say they were working on a theme framework. I had to read his comment twice to understand it correctly because the wording was a bit odd.

He said, "I for one want to know that..." He wishes they would build a theme framework that he could use.

Not a bad idea. It would be a great way to standardize on a whole host of hooks, which would benefit all Themes, and a lot of Plugins.
