    Icon4 I'm A Little BusyBee

Perhaps this post is unwarranted to most of you but I feel as this time, it needs to be said. WPTavern has reached the point where I am no longer able to adequately participate in every aspect of the WPTavern community while at the same time, generate content for the site. I would love to post in every thread and I feel bad when I don't respond to any posts here for awhile but it's a bit out of my control these days. There is so much that happens in the WordPress community on a day to day basis that when you add in the other projects Automattic has under their umbrella plus WPMU, BuddyPress, and bbPress well, there is only one Jeffro. I enjoy going through my feedreader to read about what everyone is doing with WordPress, what people are saying and then sharing what I find of interest to other people. Sometimes, I even get on a soapbox to speak my mind. However, I'm constantly running into the problem of not enough time in the day to get everything done, even after I cut myself down at work.

So the point I wanted to get across is this. If I don't respond to emails the second I receive them, if I don't respond to any threads or posts in the forum for a few days, if you don't hear from me responding in the comments, if I don't respond to you on Twitter, I'm not ignoring this vibrant community. I am simply working in the larger community in other aspects such as commenting on blog posts in the WordPress community, talking to people on skype, setting up interviews, trying to learn things on my own instead of just reporting on things, coming up with ideas to produce screencasts etc. While there is so much happening here in my own backyard, the horizons are limitless.

Don't take offense to my apparent absence because I'm very busy trying to get things done every single day. I'm trying to make progress but I can't be everywhere and do everything at once. No one has forced me to write this post but I felt like it was time based on what is going on right now and how the load will most likely increase in the future where I stand and what I'm doing.

Mate i must day your doing a great job. Your always on and although you don't post in all the threads, your posts are always well thought out, unlike mine. In terms of twitter, you have replied to all my @ tweets, so you cant possibly say that you haven't been doing a good job at that. Have you thought about getting another writer, or admin. 2 people are better than 1.
Mate also, don't let WPTavern take up ur whole life. There are much more important things than the internet.

    Keep up the good work!!

Jeff, I am always amazed at how much you do get done. I'm surprised you haven't completely crashed and burned yet. ;)

Honestly, I know where you're coming from, and I'm sure many of the others that hang out around here feel the same way. There's just so much going on but not enough time to keep on top of it all. We won't get too angry with you if you wait a few days to reply to us.

Just make sure to relax once in a while.

Thanks Conorp. I haven't thought about adding another writer because of the taxes and complexities that would add. I don't plan on letting the Tavern take up my entire life but I would love for it to be a hobby that pays well.

Justin, I haven't crashed and burned just yet. In fact, I feel like I'm getting close to settling myself into a routine. There is so much stuff I would love to share and write about but I'm afraid it would be too much stuff piling into peoples feedreaders. I could have 7 posts one day and 3 the next. But the feeling of always being behind and the feeling of needing to 'Catch Up' wheter it be in my feedreader, the forum, on Twitter, etc is what is really driving me insane. I need to find a way to just let stuff filter through and move on instead of jumping on every platform. Once I learn how to do that, things will be much better.

Just that I'm reaching a point where I'm starting to be bombarded to test out this plugin or test out this theme or review this or review that on top of just keeping tabs on the news and the community. I'm just now beginning to learn to say no despite how nice it would be to have one of the first glimpses of the project. My best reviews are ones I pick on my own without anyone asking me to review it :)

I'm in much the same boat. I visit the tavern to ease my brain from responding to messages I MUST respond to.

Damn. Well, as some of you already know, I'm running out of money so when the guys at worked asked me if I wanted to work 40 hours again, I said yes. Starting next week, I'll be 40 hours a week working 4AM - Noon. I am going to dread this shift but hopefully, the paychecks will ease the pain. This still gives me time in the afternoon to approve new members of the forum and perhaps write a post or two so by no means am I disappearing. Between this job, the writing job and WPTavern, that puts me at 3 jobs :)

You worry far too much! How you do this and maintain a day job, I don't know!

I was thinking about how you monetise your knowledge and skill in WordPress - given your profile, agreeable nature and communication skills have you considered running WordPress courses? We run quite a lot in the UK now and it's a good income generator for relatively little outlay or stress. Business courses are really where the money's at, as individuals tend to not have so much money for their hobbies.

In many ways I actually prefer training people - you never get a call back six months later claiming there's a bug and they want their money back :-)

Jeff, I still swear you could make some serious moolah from WordPress related work if you just dived in and started doing it.

No need for explanations. I think most of us already knew that.

Especially true since you are becoming well known throughout the community.
