I just think that for the amount of posts that would actually go in the security forum, you could just use the general section.

(Is that just me or doesn't that make sense)

The Aton of the day, great of majesty.

I think you have too many forums already.

I would be removing some, not adding to the pile.

    I say, go for it.

It's dearth of threads/posts will be a strength, in that it will demonstrate the relative security of WP.

What would you remove or combine? You can actually hide forums you don't want to see giving you the impression that I removed them lol.

My vote in this not-so-secret ballot is *drum roll* YEA.

    How about something like this:

    Forum Lobby
    General
    Themes and plugins
    Troubleshooting
    WordPress Weekly
    bbPress, WordPress Mu and BuddyPress
WPTavern Site And Forum - including sticky post with rules

Lol, that would make it worse!

Most of the forums here are pretty much dead. There's not going on in most of them, I like to go visit the forums themselves and scan down the list to see what new stuff I want to read, but there are so many of them and so little posts that most of the time they're empty anyway.

Once you get busier I would add more, but until then I'd be inclined to cut them back. I was surprised at how many you had in the beginning.

It's not as though less forums means less discussion, anything which doesn't fit into anything else just goes into the "general' forum.

If you ask people if they want some extra (for free) they'll almost always say yes. However that doesn't necessarily mean that it is beneficial for them to have it. Will an extra forum for security (or whatever else) actually improve the conversation? Or will it just lead to a near empty forum with very little content in it?

vBulletin forums are already a little hard to view regularly as they don't include a basic "View unread posts" button or a "View unread replies" button. So instead you often need to view the index/forums directly which becomes annoying when most of the time the forums don't have any new posts in them anyway.

I usually use the "New Posts" link between Calender and Search. It works pretty well.

I agree with Ryan about the security forum. Adding it seems like too much extra bloat for the handful of threads it's likely to get. I don't know if you really need to compress the number of forums, but there's certainly no need to add to them.

I like the current forums as they are. I just dont think you need to add any more.

What about sub forums, like Wordpress>> BBpress>> Buddypress ect

    EG,

Look at what forum I was on :p

I use that too, but it's buggy as heck coz it seems to use cookies (I assume) to work out where you have and haven't been. A simple unread posts and unread replies link is a lot better IMO. I'm amazed vBulletin hasn't added this feature.
