I have no idea if the issues I've been having are gone or have disappeared for a brief while.

I've made a few changes notably dealing with getting rid of two images and installing WP Super Cache onto the main site. For the most part today, the site and the forum have been loading pretty darn fast.

I don't think you have Super Cache configured correctly, it doesn't seem to be gzipping your site according to the compression tool on port80software.com. You could compress it by 68% by configuring the plugin correctly.

Some other suggested tweaks: You're running 24 external javascripts and 16 stylesheets, you could potentially combine and minify them into 2 with W3 Total Cache

I've been experiencing the hanging issue again just as other people have. The hostgator guy today turned off hostnamelookups and some custom apache config stuff. So far within the past 30 minutes, the site has been loading pretty fast and it hasn't hanged yet. Please keep me updated if the site hangs for you.

So I believe it was a issue with your host rather than your site?

Yes, it seems to be that way. I noticed the hanging on Saturday but a few minutes after submitting the ticket, the site went back to being fast. So far, it's been pretty responsive and fast loading. We'll see how long it lasts.
