htaccess oddness

I have had a problem for a while and it ain't fixing itself. Any ideas as to what might cause it would be most welcome:

A little time after posting each new post (the time seems fairly random) my HTaccess file goes mental. I get multiple copies of the WordPress content over and over again. Sometimes I get just a few partial characters in random places, but it pretty much always renders my blog with a 500 server error.

It is simple to fix (wipe htaccess and save my permalink preferences) but the problem eventually recurs.

None; I am usually very few plugins at all.

I know you're Andrew Rickmann, so this is probably a stupid question, but you haven't introduced some security flaw that's letting someone mess with you're .htaccess file are you?

As entirely possible as that is the only plugins of my own I am running have been running for much longer than the problem.

I was hoping someone had come across it before. The plugins I am using are:

csh_geshi (has been running for as long as the blog, more or less)
Disqus comment system
Feedburner Feedsmith
Fun with Wizzards (not released, powers the wizard and has been running on the blog forever)
Habari Category Redirection (Redirects calls for the Habari category to another blog)
Outbrain
Page Links To
Viewzi for WordPress
Woopra
WP-Page Navi
WP-Contact Form

I see no reason for any of them to go near HTaccess; although, I was wondering if it could be caused by changes to the rewrite system as a few of them reset rewrite rules, but, it only seems to happen after I post, making me think there might be some cron related issue (something I have never touched.)
