Do you know of any requirements for the likes of myself who don't use any external comment approval systems? I don't even have a disclaimer or privacy policy on any of my sites as I figured they were a waste of time since all I'm doing is storing whatever they entered into the site themselves.

Shout your lawyer friend a beer and ask if you can use a copy of his privacy policy & terms of use. He's a lawyer so he must have these. I've just had a new one done and will check if my lawyer will allow me to redistribute under Creative Commons. I'll get in touch with you directly when I have a response to this.
