Multiple post thumbnails

Do any of you know how to setup multiple (different) post thumbnails in WordPress without manually adding URLs to custom fields?

I think this has been asked around here before, but I can't recall if anyone came up with a solution or not. I need to add two thumbnails per post for a new site and the client said that the end-users of the last site I built for them weren't happy with having to upload via the media uploader, then manually transferring URLs over to a custom field. It's just too clunky when they're used to the slick new post thumbnails system brought in for WordPress 2.9.

I use the Custom Field Template plugin: http://r2h.me/cft

Among other things, it lets an administrator configure specific custom fields so that they appear on the Write Post or Write Page screen. You can set up many different field types in addition to just plain textboxes, like a date picker or a dropdown or an image uploader.

Thanks. I've been messing around with that plugin tonight, but it appears to be very complex. I'm trying to simplify things for the end-user, not make them more complicated.

What I really need, is something we can utilize the media uploader to get the image into WordPress, then insert that images URL into the custom field. From there I can probably generate the necessary thumbnails if I have to, although it would be a lot nicer if I could grab some pre-shrunk images generated by WordPress.

The code in there doesn't look overly complex which is good. I was worried it would be riddled with complex bollocks code, but it's quite a short piece of code thankfully :)

i read one thing on this plugin, it works good up to 3 thumbs with four thumbs i gets a little funny...
