A commercial plugin sounds better than a core plugin IMO.
There's probably an untapped market there if someone felt like jumping in and creating something suitable.

Of course, if a market demand for such functionality hasn't yet been strong enough to provide sufficient incentive for someone to develop a plugin already, is it really a good candidate for a core plugin?
This sort of functionality might be best-suited to a client-work, or otherwise commercial, plugin.

Saw a link to this post on twitter today. Any of these calendar plugins look worthy of using?

My company built a calendar app for a client that we have now released as the Kino Events Plugin. It gives you a good looking sidebar calendar with various cool visual features (such as speach bubbles on mouse over), and also pulls the events into a page of your choosing.
We built this because we wanted a calendar plugin that ran seperately from the blog, and also because we couldn't find anything simple and good looking on the market.
You've mentioned it earlier in this thread and it can be downloaded here:

It doesn't work for MU sites, does the job well on normal WP sites. It's only just gone out so we are looking for feedback as well as examples of sites where it is being used. If you have questions then let me know and I'll do my best to answer them.
Well, if it doesn't already have them, there are a couple of features that people have discussed earlier in this thread. Might be good to build those in and be the ultimate calendar plugin :)
It may well happen when we have time, but the plugin seems to suite pretty much all of our various customer's needs right now simply because it is elegant and simple. Ideally we'd like to iron out any existing bugs before making any further additions to it.
