Icon5 My plugin removed from WP.org extend directory

Since I see here many persons related to WP I decided to ask in this forum about my plugin's situation.

A few days ago, I forked the All in One SEO Pack with some objectives in mind, none of them of commercial nature, totally compatible with the GPL license, and so far with good acceptation. The name: Light SEO

Suddenly, without any notice or warning, the plugin was pulled out from the public WP.org extend directory. My first thought was a server issue, but after doing some research, I had the impression that may be is something related to some inner policy, specifically a copyright issue.

I found that this is not the first time, another similar case with again All in One SEO Pack was removed: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/330744?replies=8

I sent an email to auttomatic, sent a bug to WP.org, wrote in the WP forum, created a ticket in the core Trac. I have no response, there is total silent.

I just want to know how to address the situation in order to republish the plugin.

Here it is the plugin home page, in case you need to know more about: http://www.aldentorres.com/light-seo-wordpress-plugin/

    Thank you all in advance.

    I saw your plugin.

They don't generally allow plugins which are a direct rip of another plugin, but from what I saw of the source code, yours looked like it was significantly different, so I don't think that would be the case.

I assumed they would send someone an email if the plugin was removed. If not, I'd guess it's just a glitch. Try contact WordPress.org (I'm guessing there's an email address on the site) and perhaps leave a message on the WP Hackers mailing list.

They can't help. This is a WordPress issue, not an Automattic one.

    Report via email? Good idea.

That is never going to work. That's trac for WordPress core, that has nothing whatsoever to do with the plugin repo.

I see someone called Ipstenu posted this in the support topic you linked to:
FWIW, the forums mods here have little (if any) control over the rest of the site.

    I'd do this:

    1) Go to http://core.trac.wordpress.org/
    2) Login with your ID and password from here. (I think the ID has to be lowercase, could be smoking crack...)
    3) Make a new ticket with the Milestone 'Wordpress.org site'
I don't understand how that would work. I'd have thought the ticket would be ignored since it's the plugin repo. not WordPress core.

Could you post a download link to your plugin please?

I went to have another look to compare yours back to the original plugin but aren't able too now.

    Aside from your current problems:

The reason I downloaded your plugin recently was to see if you had cut the code down much. I didn't compare the two side by side, but from what I could tell, you had removed quite a lot of stuff (which is what I was hoping for).

I was hoping though, that you would have not bothered with buffering the entire page output, but had a function users could add into their theme instead of rewriting the existing title tags. This seems like a more efficient way of doing things. It's not suitable for AIOSEO as that plugin is (as it says on the box) intended to have ALL features available, which presumably includes fixing stodgy themes which don't provide a way to rewrite title tags.

Hi Ryan, my ticket in core.trac.wordpress.org is currently owned by "ryan". Are you the same person or is a coincidence?

Hi Ryan, he it is a download link http://www.aldentorres.com/light-seo.trunk.zip

Very interesting your comment about "hook functions". Actually there is some sort of this features but not clearly documented. I will research about it and I will try to add the necessary extension points.

    Sorry, just a coincidence.

I will try the WP Hackers mailing list. By the way, I find quite interesting your sentence:

Is this an artificial restriction? I don't think GPL is the problem
