just to give you an update on what iīve tried so far:
yourfont.com first looks great and promising but sadly they try to correct mistakes their users make too much, which screws up the letter spacing. Itīs pretty unpreditable how letterspacing will come out and after altering a font for 10 times it still came out exactly the same way, that was frustrating.
fontforge is a free editor, bad thing about it is that you have to install cygwin (erm yeah, kind of a linux environment for windows? not sure about what it is lol) and its just tooo complicated for the average user to get even started. i got it running but with that different environment it just felt strage, it slowed down my workflow. But if you are looking for an editor that gives you freedom in the font design, this one would probably be the best free choice that there is
iīm still not sure what iīm gonna go with, i watched a video about that old macromedia fontographer, looked like i could handle it and iīm bidding on a used copy of it on ebay.
