Default What observances do you/bloggers change their blog layout/color for?

I often see people change their blog to Pink in October. And I see a lot of blogs go Green on Earth Day. Depending on the niche, I see other changes. Mommy blogs often do US holiday schemes, for instance.

What are some "common" observances you see in the blogsphere that result in people changing their layout or blog colors?

The biggest one is probably CSS Naked Day. There's even a plugin to facilitate participation.

Have never seen it but I think blogs should turn blue for prostrate month. prostrate cancer really needs more awareness and funding. Currently only breastcancer gets any awareness mostly because men are stupid women on pedestal putting morons.
Think there is one prostrate month thin in september in the US.

heh. I think some sites turned green during the Iranian elections. Can't really think of too many other events that encourage the entire site to change designs.

I'll run banners or page curls for events, but I never change my whole site's color unless I'm re-theming. Back in the day, we used to ask 'What would Amazon.com do...' and if they wouldn't, neither would we. It's an attempt to be serious I suppose. I do sometimes mess with avatars for holidays. I unicorified them for someones birthday as a lark. Everyone laughed :)

I don't want to sound like an ignoramus but when it comes to breast cancer, almost everybody is traumatized by the loss of breasts. It's not just about the cancer and dying. It's about removing the breasts. I've had several serious conversations about this. Breasts are like, symbolic or something, to nurturing, child feeding, s-x, etc. to adults, children, both genders... Guys love them. Some envy them ;) Women love their own and sometimes other women's lol ;-P Also, both men and women get breast cancer.

In contrast, men are the only ones who get prostate cancer. It's never discussed. And when you think about the whole procedure of testing and treating it, it's makes most people clench (down there). It's one of those diseases that guys don't often want to even acknowledge. Some will even block their ears and sing a song until you stop talking about it (I've had this happen LOL) And I think that it's for that reason, and a lack of testing, that often it goes unnoticed and untreated. You can give it all the funding in the world but it's not going to make most guys run to get tested :-x

I'm not saying that's not a reason to support awareness and fund raise. It's probably more of a reason. But I'm just giving you the low IQ on the subject.

Mostly I think it comes down to how you value the lives of men and women. Mens lives are worth less in the grandscheme of things.
Despite what leading feminists say. In Sweden young girls gets a vaccination against a virus that causes cervical cancer but the same virus also causes cancer in men not as frequent but still it shows a discrepancy in how the state value the lives of men and women.

I'm still waiting for a prostate cancer show. We have a breast cancer show in Sweden on the TV but none for prostates.
Latest prostate cancer campaign was two old dudes walking across Sweden and a competition for growing the biggest moustache so at least they are trying.

On the other hand Google highlights something with the main logo probably once a week at least. And that logo is their entire theme...
