Obviously there is much more to it than what is in the post but it's good to see neighbors such as the Joomla community start to develop a more open mindset about everything.

Hehe this really sounds familiar.
A lot of posts seem to feature the same problems as with WordPress, leadership issues, core contributions, bickering on email lists and what not.The second major liberation of Joomla! was the adoption of the GPL for extensions. Those who lived through that era might remember me as a not very nice, fierce defender of the Castle, pushing down the townspeople as they advanced. How dare they protest such an enormous change in the clear agreement they had with this project? I continue to believe the change was good. I finally see that the way it was done was very damaging to our community.
Yeah, but I think those ingredients are a part of most major open source projects. Although in that Poisonous people video, Google did some things so as to eliminate most of that stuff. Granted, working for a company on an open source project is much different than dislocated people from all over the world working on a project, most times for free.
In the old days a lot of plugins used Zend encryption. Nice to see the change.
