Wouldn't it be helpful if plugins had their own Trac page. People could then suggest bug fixes, enhancements, patches, or just browse through the code. Besides plugins, themes could also benefit from Trac and SVN. This would the community to get involved... They have something to say and this could help give them a say. I've started an idea at: http://wordpress.org/extend/ideas/topic.php?id=2889 What do you guys think? Last edited by dancole; 07-03-2009 at 01:21 PM.. |

Plugins already use SVN, and are integrated with Trac automattically. http://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/ |

For the most part it only shows changelogs. I guess you could use it to get suggestions and feedback, but it doesn't allow the same type of interaction as Trac for WordPress, e.g. roadmap. I guess a plugin developer could set up shop there. They would need to point to their browse source because you can't get there from the main Trac Plugin Page. I guess most developers keep there development on their own site, but overall community interaction or even the ability to interact is very limited. |

It could also be an administrative nightmare, that somebody would have to pay for. We run our own ticketing system for premium clients at Interconnect IT, but wouldn't countenance it for what are essentially low value clients - too much work, admin and support. Nice idea, but I think as Dan suggests most in the community (I'm thinking users, more than coders) aren't all that active, sadly. |
