WordPress Wrapped In Joomla Only $80
I don't know what to make of this story only that it seems like April fools but it's not. WordPress wrapped in Joomla to provide Joomla with a powerful blogging engine that seemingly can not be taken care of by Joomla.

This has to beg the question, why not just use WordPress over Joomla in the first place? What do you guys and gals think?

WordPress still doesn't have some of the advanced functionality of Joomla (and it may never do), for instance WordPress is not particularly good at dealing with multiple contributors to a site and requires integration of other software to achieve some of the same effects that Joomla can do out of the box (ie: forums etc.).

@Ryan It may be true that WordPress could use a more solid and flexible handling of different sort of users like Joomla! does, but WordPress makes up for that in 9 of the other areas.
Having worked a lot of with Joomla! (and even Mambo) in the past, I now never used it anymore for WordPress can handle pretty much any type of website I would like to create. So yes, Jeff, I agree with you. Why bother setting up Joomla up with bridge to encorporate WordPress when WordPress can do it on it's own..

@Remkus - If WordPress is not capable of creating the type of site that you want then there isn't much point in using it.
I know someone who was talking about integrating WordPress into SilverStripe. I'm not sure how far they've gotten with that project. SilverStripe is a far more worthy competitor to WordPress than Joomla, so is probably a better comparison.

Pure overkill.
they've even made a Joomla wrapper for WPMU. I can't imagine how it performs.

I wouldn't expect support for something like this to last over the ages or it to be widely accepted into popularity.

You know what it reminds me of? The overdone meme/macro with Ice-T from pimp my Ride and the "yo dawg we heard you like..."
As in "Yo Dawg! We heard you like CMS so we put a CMS in yer CMS!"

Joomla has never had a good component for comments, and even the add ons leave a lot to be desired. I just think for the casual end-user, joomla is too confusing, so that would just make it worse, much less having to keep two sets of passwords, unless the tie the two togehter with a bridge.
