    Default moving facebook to wordpress

So facebook is changing groups and this was the last straw that broke the camel's back for my current boss.

The events part is like eventbrite/guestlist/etc...
The groups/wall thing is like buddypress.

    So what I am thinking:

Install Buddypress on his site, add an events plugin (if it's not native to buddypress - not that familiar with BP but I will be soon). Add the option to login with facebook.

I am not familiar with Buddypress since it's the least WP family of products I am familiar with.

Essentially create a community directly on the site without going through facebook. Still keeping the page on facebook and moving things to the site away from facebook (like moving offices to another province/state). What do you think?

One of the other things him wanting to move to the site is the privacy issues with facebook, many members have issues with it.

I (or my boss) can control the privacy settings 100% but in the facebook group we can't exactly as we want it.

You can incorporate iframes within Facebook pages now too, so you could simply iframe your website minus header and footer into Facebook to keep the internal Facebook integration intact if needed. I'm not sure how you do that, but I've heard it is possible.

Well, that may be the last time I ever visit a Facebook page.

    Seriously?!?

    I mean: really. IFRAMEs? Seriously?

Well if you want more total control over a Facebook page that seems to me like the best way to do it. It's not as though they're going to give you direct access to their server to do whatever you want. In an iframe you have complete control.

There's even a WordPress theme purpose built for using in this way. I can't remember what it's called though.
