"Front page displays" option being removed from 3.0?

Just updated to the latest development version (3.0-alpha) of WordPress on my test site and noticed some Reading settings gone. Mainly the options that allow a static page to be used as a homepage etc.

Anyone heard anything about this? Looked around the Dashboard and they seem to be gone for good. Bug maybe?? Quite a lot of people use these settings mainly for CMS type sites...

I just upgraded a development version of WordPress on my local server to the latest nightly build and I see the Front Page Displays options. So I don't think they are being removed.

Check trac and see if there's a ticket. If not, please submit one as that's definitely supposed to stay.

There must be some way to get around that. That would screw up way too many sites if that setting were to be entirely removed.

Very strange, the "Front page displays" settings were there in the 3.0 beta I played with two days ago, but the latest version that I just updated to on my test site shows nothing.

I'll download the beta and try installing it manually instead of using the update feature.

I'm still seeing "Front Page Displays" on both of my dev installs (1 single/1 multi-site). Both of them were upgraded to the latest nightly version earlier today.

I wouldn't file any tickets just yet until we get more feedback from other people reporting the same thing you are. I'll keep an eye out to see if they disappear on me.

Installed the latest nightly version manually and it's showing up again. Who knows, very strange.

Never seen a problem like that before.
