    Default Is bbpress dead?

    So I found this link:

    http://bbshowcase.org/forums/

This guy is the author of bbpress plugin http://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/mini-stats/. He says something like:

By now bbPress 1.5 could have been in alpha but instead bbPress development has been deliberately stagnated, which should be a very alarming warning to everyone.
Now with the appearance of the bbpress wordpress plugin on the Extend I'm guessing bbpress doesn't have much life into it as a stand alone version.

Anyone has any input on this? I'm asking because I've just stated using bbpress on cozmoslabs forums and could be interesting to see what options I would have for the future.

Check the WPTavern blog post archives, for the news on bbPress.

Basically, the project is very much alive, but will be rolled into a WordPress plugin, to ease development/maintenance/integration with WordPress (one of the most oft-requested feature improvements).

So, bbPress is very much alive, but it will soon exist primarily as a WordPress plugin.

bbPress will become a plugin for WordPress, at least thats the impression I've gotten.
Don't think it will continue as a stand alone version since its gonna become a "core plugin".

A core plugin sounds good. Lets hope they're going to make it easy to move from stand alone to plugin.

There will be a bbPress 1.1 which will have a few features added to the stand alone software. As far as I can tell, bbPress will continue to exist as stand alone software but the plugin will allow tight integration between WordPress and bbPress. I haven't seen any confirmation that bbPress as a stand-alone product would be discontinued.

@Cristi - The site you refer to was run by _ck_ who is a woman. Her contribution to bbPress was enormous. The exact reason for her leaving the project is anyone's guess although plenty of rumours abound.

I've looked at her profile on bbpress but it never specified her gender! :) My bad.

I found this searching for a statistics plugin for bbpress.

Oh well. I guess we should thank her for all her previous work on bbpress.

Lots of people make that mistake. :) She wrote a gazillion plugins for bbPress in addition to other duties.

I was talking about this with Matt at lunch yesterday. Rest assured, bbPress is not dead. :)

The support forums are using it, after all. And those need some upgrades too, you know...
