    Even then, WordPress itself is fairly fast. I never bothered with the so-called "deep" integration (didn't need it), but even if I had, I don't think it would have resulted in a noticeable performance hit.

    And, given that the vast (vast vast) majority of use cases involve WP/bbP together, I realized it was a non-issue anyway.

    In any case, I'm quite happy with my bbPress install, regardless of how its standing with respect to WordPress changes in the near future. :)

    Well it may not completely dead, but no main forums uses it..

    So do a ton of respectable companies that need something quick and easy to power their support forums. Support is quite a popular use case for bbPress.
