Default invoiceing software / web services

What is the simplest best choice i.e. cheap and works on a mac? I am just starting out a sideline business, so I have modest needs and funds.

I have been using FreshBooks for about a year and I really like it. It's a web service so it'll work on any OS, and they have an iPhone app too.

FreshBooks is clean and simple and is even fun to use. The team that puts out FreshBooks really have their stuff together and roll out new features often.

They have a free package so that you can try it out, I have the cheapest paid package, and it has been well worth the money. It helps me track my hours and expenses much closer and definitely pays for itself.

If FreshBooks has enough features to to fit your needs it is well worth checking out.

I am taking a look at both programs. I like the looks of Freshbooks best, but LessAccounting has a free option which would be great just starting out.

    thanks guys,
    Danny

You could host your own Freshbooks style service on your WP site using WP-Invoice:

And best of all, its free :)

Depending on your requirements, where you live and where your business is based you'll need different answers to fit.

We use e-conomic, which is sufficiently powerful and flexible, but it's really a bookkeeper's/accountant's tool. If you don't understand it or want to learn then bookkeeping then you can just use it as an invoicing tool and let your accountant deal with it. It's SaaS, the support is great, and I think they have a US version.

But - this is a dangerous area for me. I used to be an ERP consultant, and can bore for hours about the limited capabilities of most accounting and financial systems sold to small businesses so it's probably best if I get my coat :-)

My needs are very basic, just an invoice and a link for paypal. We do our own taxes.

    thanks,
    Danny
