No, he definitely has not said that. It would be rather hypocritical of him since he makes money from WordPress related services himself.

Yep - rather a lot of money, by the look of it ;-)

In fact, I've found Automattic to be rather supportive of consultancies that make money from us, and they've certainly sent a fair bit of work our way simply through the consultants list they maintain.

Looks like you've made the decision Andrea but I would have thought there would be a place for this and at least a little demand. But it could be tough when you have people such as The WordPress Wizard and some other screencast based learning centers around WordPress already in existence.

Between WordPress For Dummies and Vladimir Prelovacs Plugin Development books, I feel like I have most of the information I'd need but having one to one communication in a learning environment would definitely be nice.

And the others are correct, Matt WANTS to see people making a living or being successful around the WordPress ecosystem.

Just to clarify, it was andreasnrb that started the thread. :)

We *will* be doing some types of courses in the near future. Ron & I have checked out demand for some specific things, so these will be more a how-to in an e-learning environment. Which is some thing we definitely also have experience in. :D

Personally I don't develop stuff before I have enough data that will confirm that I will go with profit. Initial testing showed little interest when it came to people searching and paying for stuff. My prelaunch stuff is suppose to go online today or tomorrow and then I'll have better data.

    Welcome to the forum danphilibin.

What sort of classes are you intending to offer?

Thanks Ryan! I don't want to release too many details but we have basic HTML to WP courses and then some classes that will focus on more specific aspects of theme development, such as advanced Loop techniques, menu tricks, widgets, etc.
