So you;re buying the next round, then? ;)
Very true.
Feel free to put anything you feel like drinking (including top shelf stuff) on my WP Tavern tab for the next 24 hours!
I'm glad your situation was resolved but the issue you brought up is a good one.
While I don't freelance or do one-off jobs any more (unless it's a really good offer and I have the time), getting paid, especially if it was an international issue, was always potentially problematic. I think in the future you might want to require half of the payment upfront if the client is in another country. It's ridiculous that a job you completed was in use, yet you hadn't been paid.
Really glad it worked out, though I think it goes without saying this is probably not someone you'll want to work with again!

I'd happily work with them again, I'll just require payment upfront, that's all :)
hakre on wordpress (clicking this all three minutes help to keep the cache fresh - thanks)
I've had a client or two take a long time to pay. I've actually found that the longer I work with clients the more likely it is that this is the case. I think that they just feel more casual with you over time. It's a good thing that they're comfortable with you but a bad thing as well.
I suspect in this particular case they didn't actually have the funds to cover it.
It's great that they finally coughed up - good job
A designer (graphical not wordpress) that I've approached before now requires that his clients pay half the agreed fee up front as he was having many people do the same to him.
EDIT- I've just read what film_girl put...my bad for repeating!

I have only had one client in the past to not pay for WordPress services. Ended up losing out on about $650 for the job, it was big job and a lot of modifications were done and a lot of stuffing around, did the job at a discount price also which saved the client lots because most people wanted to do it for double my price...
Nowadays I just ask for some kind of payment up front when it comes to new clients, I'm a bit more relaxed with regular clients thought who are reliable...
I guess that's why I like the hosting side of things more then doing services, hosting client doesn't pay and I send out a nice email, second email if still not paid is also a polite email. The third email that is sent is normally telling them to pay by so and so date or your hosting account will be suspended within a couple days. Have not needed to suspend one account yet.
It's either pay and stay online or don't pay and go offline...![]()

I also ask for half payment up front (unless the project is "really" big. If the project is being launched in phases, then I break payment up into increments as well.) Also, I'll offer a 5-10% discount if full payment is made within 7 days of completion. After that, there's a monthly % added to the amount. People want that discount! :D
