The analogy is a stretch, I think, but here's what I'm guessing:

Beehive: where everything happens (the forums)
Bees: what produce the content (the topics)
Honey: content produced (the posts)

Again, I think it's a huge stretch. And, I agree: one would intuitively think that the "bees" are the users.
