    That wasn't what I was talking about at all, but thank you. All I was saying was, as it stands today, you can deep integrate bbPress and WordPress, but it will add overhead to your site and slow things down. I didn't notice too much of a dip on a busy site, mind.

    And I don't think we can say 'bbPress plugin will be slower than stand-alone' at this point, since there ain't no plugin to compare it to yet. If it's a direct port, then yes, plugin will be slower. I'm sure there are some optimizations that can, and will, be done.

    Well yeah, especially if the theory was it will be slow because of redundant core functions. if it's made as a plugin, then they need to strip the redundant code out.

    I will say: Stand alone bbPress TODAY (the .9 version, not the 1.0 one) is sick fast. Way faster than WordPress. That will probably be slower on WP than stand-alone. However, comparing 1.0 bbPress to WP is less of a difference.

    This is not based on metrics, BTW, I never bothered to do good ones. I just eyeballed.
