    1) How will data migration (from bb_ to wp_ tables) take place? I assume some sort of import mechanism will be provided for existing bbPress forums?
AFAIK, no has said that this was definitely going to be done. WP will run fine on any table prefix and there is nothing that says that all tables must have the WP table prefix. BuddyPress has its own set of tables, so it's still possible that bbPress would also have its own as well.

Hopefully, all will go smoothly. I know, from reading the dev chat, that they're not going to be terribly concerned with compatibility of current bbPress themes. I'm sure data will be handled differently, though.

In case that IRC chat log didn't make it obvious, it was a discussion about bbPress development, but the only official bbPress developer involved in it was Matt himself. The rest of us were just randoms who were either asked to participate or randomly happened to wander into the IRC at the time.

True, but, IIRC, the one who made the comment about "early adopters" and theme breakage was Matt.

I trust that all will be taken care of, but, more than new functionality (current functionality meets my current needs), those are my two biggest concerns, because they will potentially be the two most difficult aspects of upgrading to a bbPress-as-WP-plugin.

Be aware that bbPress is in the process of being written as a plug-in for WordPress. If you were planning to add bbPress to a WP site, it may be better to wait. Or at lease "do your homework" on the state of bbPress.
